“I will ask the Administrative Judge of the Supreme Court to impanel a special grand
jury to investigate the fatal shooting of Deborah Danner, a 66-year-old woman, in her
apartment on October 18, 2016, and to determine whether, and to what extent, criminal
charges should be brought in connection with that incident.
“I have pledged to the people of the Bronx to conduct a thorough, fair investigation into
this matter and I believe that presenting the evidence to a grand jury will best accomplish
that goal. It is important to determine exactly what happened in this tragic incident.
“There is no timetable for the grand jury to be impaneled or for it to reach a
determination.”
