Bronx Chamber of Commerce - 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide to be published

2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide to be published

Dear Members & Friends:

As part of the thriving renaissance underway at the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, I am delighted to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Today Media (publishers of the Brooklyn, Yonkers Chamber of Commerce and Westchester Business Council Directory) to produce the 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide for the Bronx Chamber of Commerce.

The 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide will list all members alphabetically and by category for referrals and new business contacts. The Directory will also feature important resource information. The Directory will be distributed to more than 2,000 member businesses, new businesses, and select governmental offices. It will also be distributed at Bronx Chamber of Commerce events throughout the year.

Membership in the Bronx Chamber of Commerce is now more important than ever with the expanded list of committees, member networking opportunities, seminars, workshops and the 2017 Business Directory.

I encourage businesses to serve on committees as an excellent way to network and meet potential new customers, contribute directly to the work of the Bronx Chamber, interact with fellow Members to share ideas and common interests, further the Chamber's objectives for Bronx businesses, economic development and the borough through its promotion, support and advocacy initiatives.

There are also advertising opportunities in the 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide. For more information, contact Senior Account Executive Allan Kolstein at

I look forward to your active participation and support of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce!

Sincerely,

Nunzio

Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda Hosts Fundraiser For Mayor Bill deBlasio

This was the place, the Arci Cafe (located on the corner of Commerce and Waterbury Avenues) where people from the Bronx came for a fundraiser for Mayor Bill de Blasio hosted by Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda.

The inside of the Arci Cafe was ready to go as people arrived to see, listen to, support, and many have their picture taken with Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Mayor de Blasio is greeted by Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda who put this event together. On the left is one of the assemblyman's biggest supporters from the Banglrdeshicommunity of the Bronx Mr. Abdus Shahid..

After the introduction by Assemblyman Sepulveda, Mayor de Blasio spoke about how his administration has tried to make the city a better place for all of its residents. He then told of the unrest and problems around the country, but that here in New York he has been able to keep the people safe while peaceful demonstrations take place. After the mayors speech he stayed for over an hour to get to know some of the people at the event as most of the others had their picture taken with the mayor.

Assemblyman Victor Pichardo was on hand, and had his picture taken with Mayor Bill de Blasio, While everyone wanted to talk to the mayor Assemblyman Pichardo was able to get in a few words with the him.

Why Was Road Milling Equipment Placed in Front of the Riverdale Jewish Center on the Sabath

Saturday morning at 2 AM this road milling machine was placed in front of the Riverdale Jewish Center located at Independence Avenue and West 237th Street. At almost the same time Saturday morning another road milling machine was placed on Independence Avenue at the corner of West 237th Street diagonally across the street from the Jewish Center on the opposite corner as you see in the photo below.

The day before a third road milling machine was placed on Independence Avenue along the side of MS/HS 141, and also across from the Jewish Center. In the photo is a service truck with someone working on the milling machine.

One has to wonder since only one road milling machine was used to mill West 236th, 237th and 239th Streets the week before the July 4th holiday, why are there now three road milling trucks in the vicinity of the corner of Independence Avenue and West 237th Street? If you look closely at the photos you will see that the milling machine in front of the Jewish Center hangs over the crosswalk, while the machine diagonally across the street from the Jewish Center hangs over parked cars.

Above - You can see that if one is to cross the street in the crosswalk of Independence Avenue at West 237th Street, one has to walk under the extended arm of a road milling machine.
Below - Diagonally across the street you can see the extended arm of another road milling machine (which is also parked in a safety zone) extends over a few legally parked cars.

Here you can see how easy it is for a child to crawl under the unattended road milling machine to be hurt on one of the many sharp asphalt cutting blades.
So why are there three road milling machines placed to mill down streets that have already been milled, and awaiting repaving?
Any answers NYC Department of Transportation?
