On Sunday, April 13, New York City Mayor Eric Adams will travel to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to stand in solidarity with the Dominican community following the devastating roof collapse at a popular nightclub on Tuesday that has already claimed the lives of 221 individuals and left over 150 more injured.
As the mayor of the city with the largest Dominican population outside of the Dominican Republic, Mayor Adams is making the trip to express heartfelt condolences and support to the families who are grieving, including many New Yorkers and their loved ones who have been directly affected by this tragedy. New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez — born and raised in the Dominican Republic — will accompany the mayor on the trip.
Mayor Adams will travel back to New York City on Tuesday, April 15.
