NYGOP Chair Ed Cox released the following statement in response to Kathy Hochul's announcement that she will sign Albany Democrats' bill permitting physician-assisted suicide:
"Governor Hochul’s decision to sign the assisted suicide bill is a profound moral failure. At a moment when New Yorkers are struggling with isolation and mental health crises, she is choosing to tell the most vulnerable among us that their lives are expendable.
"This is not compassion, it's abandonment. True leadership defends life, dignity and hope, even when it's hard.
"New Yorkers have a clear moral alternative in Elise Stefanik, a leader who believes every life has value and who will fight relentlessly for families, the disabled and the voiceless. The contrast could not be clearer."
