THREE MEN INDICTED FOR ALLEGEDLY CONSPIRING TO TRAFFICK ILLEGAL FIREARMS INTO THE BRONX

Defendants Allegedly Transported Weapons From Virginia to New York

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that three men have been charged in a 43-count indictment for an alleged gun trafficking operation in which multiple firearms were transported illegally from Virginia to New York and then resold to an undercover investigator.

District Attorney Clark said, “These three defendants are accused of bringing illegal guns into the Bronx and threatening the safety of our citizens for the purpose of financial gain, often using social media to discuss payment. This indictment signals the end of this reckless plan. I applaud the investigator who prevented the flow of these dangerous weapons into the borough.”

District Attorney Clark said that defendants Jose Tejeda Jr., AKA “Chapo”, 29, of the Bronx, and Nazaya Gonzalez, AKA “Gotti”, 28, of Virginia, were arraigned September 4, 2026, by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Pamela Goldsmith. Gonzalez was charged with first-degree Criminal Sale of a Firearm, second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and other related charges, while Tejeda Jr. was charged with Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree and Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree. Both defendants are due back in court on December 9, 2026. The third defendant has not yet been apprehended.

According to the investigation, between December 2023 and May 2024, Gonzalez sent photos of firearms to Tejeda Jr. and then drove the guns selected for purchase from Virginia to New York. Tejeda Jr. allegedly bought eight firearms from Gonzalez, either paying in cash or by making electronic transfers to the third defendant. Once in possession of guns, Tejeda Jr. resold them unknowingly to an undercover investigator.

District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Victor Voronkov, Lieutenant Andrew Bocchieri and Narcotics Borough Bronx North for their work in the investigation.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
