THE WEEK IN REVIEW

2024 MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

It was a night full of laughter, dancing, music, and love as we gathered for our 2024 Mother’s Day Celebration at the Bronx Zoo.

Thank you to everyone who came out to kick off Mother’s Day with Team Salamanca & congratulations to all the winners of our raffle prizes!

DIAPER CHANGING TABLE IN NYC PARKS ANNOUNCEMENTS

It was a great morning in Hunts Point as we gathered to celebrate newly installed diaper changing stations at Hunts Point Playground!

Thanks to New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Commissioner Sue Donoghue’s commitment to seeing this project through, 90% of all the parks in NYC now have stations in men’s and women’s restrooms - 3 years ahead of schedule.

CALLING OUT THE DYSFUNCTION IN THE
SCHOOL  CONSTRUCTION AUTHORITY

This is what generational discrimination looks like in the South Bronx.

From FY 21 to FY 24, my office has awarded PS 424 Bronx Academy for Multi-Media:
👉$700,000 for playground renovations
👉$1.25million for auditorium renovations

To date, the NYC School Construction Authority has completed ZERO work on either project, instead requesting more money from my office to cover “updated, inflation pricing” shortfalls.

Who suffers as a result? Our KIDS.

Our kids don’t have a playground or an auditorium because of the bureaucratic negligence of taxpayer dollars.

HUNTS POINT WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT’S NEW CHARGING STATIONS

Historically, the South Bronx has always suffered from the highest rates of asthma due to industrial pollution.

I welcome the 6 new charging stations installed at the Hunts Point Waste Water Treatment Plant that will continue to build on the City’s mission to have the greenest municipal fleet in the country.

Thank you to NYC Citywide Administrative Services, NYC Department Of Environmental Protection, and Con Edison for working collaboratively to help address one of the biggest issues facing our Borough today.
