The Bronx Republican Women's Club held its last meeting Monday night, before the end of petitioning on April third. In attendance were candidates Curtis Silwa for Mayor, and incumbent 13th City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato who both spoke before the well attended crowd despite the pouring rain outside.
Mayoral candidate Curtis Silwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels which began in the Bronx and is now in thirteen countries and over one-hundred cities, said he sees a path to victory in a crowded General Election in November, after a very bitter and crowded June Democratic primary.
Silwa said he is against the 'City of YES' which is now facing a lawsuit. He is against development on parkland, wants to end shelters by setting up Single Room Occupancy buildings where people have their own apartment with security and services that would be needed. Mayor Silwa wants to keep Rikers Island open and fix it up to livable standards because the small borough jails won't be able to handle all the people who should be in jail, that he says is why judges are letting them go free.
After mayoral candidate Silwa, incumbent Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato thanked the club for their help in getting petitions. She mentioned several upcoming events her office is doing throughout the council district, and turned the meeting over to the Bronx Republican Women's Co-Chair's Rochelle Mandina and Lisa Velella-DiTomasso.
