STATEMENT FROM BOROUGH PRESIDENT DIAZ

RE: Fire companies closures

“Mayor Bloomberg is compromising public safety and that cannot be an option for the City to balance the budget.  Our community fought hard to keep Ladder 53 on City Island open and we will certainly do the same now to avoid any closures that could put Bronxites in any community at risk. The safety of our residents should be more important than any budget issue and we will fight to avoid the closure of Ladder 53 and Engine 46 and 60,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
