This half-hour coming-of-age comedy follows transplanted Jersey boy Mondo (voiced by Josh Gad) and his best bud Woodie (voiced by Adam Brody) as they surf the biggest waves, hit the wildest parties and chase the prettiest girls in Play Del Toro - a colorful California beach community.  The all-star ensemble cast also features voice appearances by Debi Mazar as ‘Babs’ Mondo’s mom; Alan Tudyk as ‘Lonnie,’ a burnt-out but wise beach bum; Danny McBride as ‘Ms. Teets,’ a massively overweight and inappropriate human sexuality teacher; Olivia Thirlby as ‘Jeena,’ the beautiful girl of Mondo’s dreams; Jake Busey as ‘Turk,’ an obnoxious local surfer and bully; and Tony Hale as ‘Wadska,’ a charmingly nerdy and delusional friend.
The series was created by David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express,” “Your Highness”) and is animated by Six Point Harness.  Executive producers include Green, as well as Tom Brady ("The Simpsons”), Tom Werner (“Roseanne,” “That 70’s Show”), Mike Clements (“Life and Times of Tim,” “Are You There Vodka, It’s Me Chelsea”) and Brad Ableson (“The Simpsons”).  Clay Spencer serves as the executive in charge of production for MTV.  “Good Vibes” premieres on MTV on Thursday, October 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
“DEATH VALLEY”
MTV’s horror-comedy “Death Valley” is a scripted series that follows the ‘Undead Task Force’ (UTF), a newly formed division of the LAPD, documentary-style, as they capture the monsters that roam the streets of California’s San Fernando Valley.  In a world where vampires, werewolves and zombies live freely, “Death Valley” is a fun, comedic non-stop thrill ride featuring chases, hardcore kills and bizarre encounters.  The series airs Monday nights at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
“Death Valley stars Tania Raymonde (“Lost”), Bryan Callen (“The Hangover”), Caity Lotz (“Mad Men”), Bryce Johnson (‘Sleeping Dogs Lie”), Texas Battle (“Final Destination 3,” “Dragonball,” “Coach Carter”) and Charlie Sanders (Funny or Die’s “The Big Dog”).

24 PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE BRONX TO BE SPRUCED UP ON
‘NEW YORK CARES DAY’

New York Cares to bring thousands of volunteers to give
Bronx schools a back-to-school makeover.

New York Cares will send 7,000 volunteers across the city to revitalize public schools on New York Cares Day, Saturday, October 15, 2011.  Now in its 20th year, this citywide day of volunteering will revitalize 111 schools across the five boroughs. This year, volunteers will spruce up 24 schools in The Bronx including IS 229 in Morris Heights where New Yorkers will brighten up hallways with inspirational quotes, paint murals in the cafeteria and give the teachers' lounge a makeover.

“There’s still time for Bronx residents to grab a paint brush and join us for New York Cares Day,” said Gary Bagley, Executive Director of New York Cares. “We’re proud that for 20 years, our volunteers have helped the city provide vibrant and inspiring learning environments for students in every borough.”

Also, at IS 229 the winner of New York Cares’ student mural contest will paint his original design.  The theme of the mural contest -- open to all public high school students -- was “Students Give Back.” Another highlighted site is PS/MS 280 X Mosholu Parkway in Norwood where volunteers will create murals to encourage recycling.

On New York Cares Day, volunteers will paint classrooms and fences, re-organize libraries, plant flowers, fix-up playgrounds, and create colorful new murals.

New Yorkers (12 years old and up) can register to volunteer from now until October 14 at www.newyorkcaresday.org, with a registration fee of $20 per person. On Saturday, October 15, volunteers can come to the New York Cares office at 214 West 29th Street, Manhattan at 8:30am to register and participate.  The website provides complete information about the event including details on making donations in honor of a team or volunteer. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

New York Cares Day is the city’s largest day of hands-on volunteering in the public schools.  This annual day of service is run by New York Cares -- the city’s leading volunteer organization -- in partnership with the NYC Department of Education.  Like a walk-a-thon, participants raise money in honor of the time they spent volunteering.  Money raised goes to support the event and New York Cares’ year-round volunteer programs. Each year, New York Cares mobilizes 54,000 volunteers to help 400,000 New Yorkers in need.

New York Cares volunteers will also be working at other schools in the Bronx on October 15, including:

TOM MORELLO TO PLAY FREE CONCERT OPENING NIGHT!
On Thursday, October 13th at 7:30PM, Tom Morello as The Nightwatchman, accompanied by the Freedom Fighter Orchestra will take the stage at the IGN Theater at the Javitts Center to play a riveting set for the New York Comic Con Kick-Off Concert.
The Grammy award-winning artist released The Nightwatchman World Wide Rebel Songs on August 30th and has been taking the country by political storm, one city at a time.
"The core of The Nightwatchman is dark matter," says Tom Morello. "But at the heart of every struggle, there's hope. So this is an album of rousing hopelessness—it's part Johnny Cash and part Che Guevara, part beacon light and part arson fire."
Tom Morello’s graphic novel Orchid, which tells the tale of a 16-year-old street prostitute in a dystopian future, will be released in twelve issues through Dark Horse Comics will be on sale October 12th.  Orchid features a variant cover by the well-known and influential street artist Shepard Fairey, with interior art by Scott Hepburn (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic).
Orchid is part Suicide Girl, part Joan of Arc, who becomes the Spartacus of Whores in a story that merges the epic scope of Lord of the Rings with the politics of street terrorism.” – Tom Morello
Headlined by DJ Z-Trip, the concert is free to all VIP's and 4-Day ticket holders BUT seating is first come, first served and will be extremely limited due to size of the auditorium and popularity of the event. Ultimate Access, Special Access and Anime Access VIP ticket holders will be guaranteed to get into the show first; then, 4-Day ticket holders will be let in until the auditorium is full. The concert is open to all 4-Day ticket holders on a first come, first served basis and we cannot guarantee that all 4-Day ticket holders that want to attend the show will be able to get in.
"I'm stoked and honored to be playing alongside Tom Morello at the New York Comic Con. He's one of my favorite guitarists of all time, and I've always admired the level of consciousness he brings to the table. This show is gonna be great. Can't wait to read his new comic too." – DJ Z-Trip
Tom Morello is appearing courtesy of Dark Horse Comics, New York Comic Con and Midtown Comics – who will be selling Orchid #1 exclusively at the Kick-Off Concert.
“The world is in flux,” Tom Morello says. “People are standing up and fighting for their rights around the globe. It’s an important juncture we’re at—is anyone going to stand up? The Nightwatchman will stand up, and this is the soundtrack for that struggle.”
In an era of chaos and turmoil around the globe, the voice of The Nighwatchman is needed now more than ever. With so many artists all too willing to abdicate any position of protest and challenge, Tom Morello, and the international concerns of his World Wide Rebel Songs, offer essential tools for the social justice struggles of today.

Tom Morello is a Grammy Award-winning guitarist best known for his tenure with the bands Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, his acoustic solo act, The Nightwatchman. Tom is also the cofounder of the nonprofit organization Axis of Justice.  The Harvard educated guitarist was ranked #26 in Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”  and has sold over 30 million records.

COMIC CON- Geek Girls Invade The Big Apple

GEEK GIRLS INVADE THE BIG APPLE
One of the fastest growing demographics in the Science Fiction world today is the female audience, sometimes referred to as “Geek Girls.” They will be in full force at this year’s New York Comic Con October 13th-16th at the Javits Center.
Recognizing and embracing this incredibly important and increasing segment of the sci-fi audience, Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano on the television series, Star WarsTM : The Clone Wars, is bringing to New York Comic Con her new line of sci-fi fashion apparel and merchandise, titled Her UniverseTM (www.heruniverse.com), designed exclusively for women who want to show their geeky pride and love of Science Fiction. Ashley has now become one of the leading voices for Geek Girls.
Married to former Major League Baseball player, two-time World Series Champion and World Series MVP, David Eckstein, Ashley has made a career of fighting for the underdog, of leading the charge to create a place for female fans in a pop culture community typically dominated by men. In addition to fighting alongside the male heroes in The Clone Wars, Ashley aims to help her fellow female fans find their rightful place in the pop culture community. Her Universe is a “geek chic” line featuring fashionable, female–focused apparel and accessories based on such high-profile entertainment properties as the beloved Star Wars franchise and Syfy’s most popular shows such as Battlestar Galactica, Warehouse 13 and more.
"Most people do not realize that close to half of all sci-fi fans are women,” said Ashley. “This all started when, selfishly, I wanted more Star Wars merchandise made for fangirls. I love sci-fi and I quickly found out that I wasn't alone. I found scores of other fangirls online and at conventions who just wanted to be recognized and accepted in this unique genre. I felt that someone had to step up and give a voice to all of these passionate women, and that's when I founded Her Universe.”
Fans attending New York Comic Con will find two convention-exclusive items from Her Universe – a Star Wars Naboo charm for the new Star Wars Charm Bracelet and a 100% sterling silver Battlestar Galactica Cylon Toaster Necklace. Plus, just in time for Halloween and available this year only at New York Comic Con, Ashley will be offering 100 Star Wars Halloween-themed earth friendly tote bags featuring the art of popular Star Wars illustrator Katie Cook – the perfect trick or treating bag for fans of all ages.
