International cuisines will be sold from the following countries: Albania, China, the Caribbean, India, Italy, Latin America, Jamaica, and Thailand. These amazing food choices will all be entered into a food contest and judged by Chef John Denizard! Winners will be chosen based on food presentation and taste. The Allerton Ave International Food show is the only summer festival to take place in the Bronx that offers such a diverse menu for all who attend. It is going to be a day filled with fun for ALL ages!

Gene De Francis—Director of Allerton International Merchants Assoc. says, “Every year we look forward to coming together at the Allerton International Food Festival as a community, celebrating and sharing our cultural uniqueness which unites us as Americans & Bronxites. This year the festival is shaping up to be the best one yet-featuring great music, people and best of all great food!”

Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj stated, "The Allerton Festival and International Food Show is one of my favorite events. In a community so diverse there are always two things that will always unite us - good food and good music. I am ecstatic to have more cuisines apart of the display this year and great entertainment. I encourage all to attend with friends, family and neighbors for a fun filled afternoon and good food."

Gas Leak by Jerome Park Reservoir

Firemen from the local engine companies watch guard as DEP and Con Edison workers try to find the source of a gas leak off the corner of Goulden and Sedgwick Avenues. It seems that the contractor used to fix the sidewalk and curb where Construction around the gate house on the corner took place the last 18 months didn't see the gas main head it struck.

Above - You can see the DEP, Con Edison, and firemen gathering at the spot of a gas leak on Goulden Avenue off Sedgwick Avenue.
Below - One Con Ed worker digs at the site of the gas odor to find the gas leak.

Above - The Con Ed worker has found the damaged gas main head.

Let's See How This Street is Milled

In case you are wondering what that red sign on the pole is, it is a sign that says milling of the street (East 205th Street) is to be done on Wednesday as the photo was taken Tuesday afternoon.

Above - As road construction is don eon East 205th Street Tuesday, the day before the street is to be milled, see the photo below.
Below - After the days work is done on Tuesday, metal plates are placed over the construction that has not been completed. So the question then is, how will the milling machine mill down a street with metal plates in the middle of the street.

This seems to be the spot that the permit was placed to do the construction.

Bronx Chamber of Commerce - 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide to be published

2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide to be published

Dear Members & Friends:

As part of the thriving renaissance underway at the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, I am delighted to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Today Media (publishers of the Brooklyn, Yonkers Chamber of Commerce and Westchester Business Council Directory) to produce the 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide for the Bronx Chamber of Commerce.

The 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide will list all members alphabetically and by category for referrals and new business contacts. The Directory will also feature important resource information. The Directory will be distributed to more than 2,000 member businesses, new businesses, and select governmental offices. It will also be distributed at Bronx Chamber of Commerce events throughout the year.

Membership in the Bronx Chamber of Commerce is now more important than ever with the expanded list of committees, member networking opportunities, seminars, workshops and the 2017 Business Directory.

I encourage businesses to serve on committees as an excellent way to network and meet potential new customers, contribute directly to the work of the Bronx Chamber, interact with fellow Members to share ideas and common interests, further the Chamber's objectives for Bronx businesses, economic development and the borough through its promotion, support and advocacy initiatives.

There are also advertising opportunities in the 2017 Business Directory & Resource Guide. For more information, contact Senior Account Executive Allan Kolstein at

I look forward to your active participation and support of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce!

Sincerely,

Nunzio

Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda Hosts Fundraiser For Mayor Bill deBlasio

This was the place, the Arci Cafe (located on the corner of Commerce and Waterbury Avenues) where people from the Bronx came for a fundraiser for Mayor Bill de Blasio hosted by Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda.

The inside of the Arci Cafe was ready to go as people arrived to see, listen to, support, and many have their picture taken with Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Mayor de Blasio is greeted by Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda who put this event together. On the left is one of the assemblyman's biggest supporters from the Banglrdeshicommunity of the Bronx Mr. Abdus Shahid..

After the introduction by Assemblyman Sepulveda, Mayor de Blasio spoke about how his administration has tried to make the city a better place for all of its residents. He then told of the unrest and problems around the country, but that here in New York he has been able to keep the people safe while peaceful demonstrations take place. After the mayors speech he stayed for over an hour to get to know some of the people at the event as most of the others had their picture taken with the mayor.

Assemblyman Victor Pichardo was on hand, and had his picture taken with Mayor Bill de Blasio, While everyone wanted to talk to the mayor Assemblyman Pichardo was able to get in a few words with the him.
