655 West 34th Street, New York City
BIOGRAPHY:
Steve
Wilkos is the host of NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution's
nationally syndicated series "The Steve Wilkos Show," now in its sixth
season.
A native of Chicago, Wilkos served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for almost seven years before joining the Chicago Police Department. For almost 12 years, he kept the streets of Chicago's volatile 14th District (Shakespeare) safe while moonlighting during his off hours on television. Wilkos retired from the police force in 2001 and now devotes himself full time to his family and his show.
Prior to starting a show of his own, Wilkos filled in for Jerry Springer as host of the long-running "The Jerry Springer Show" on more than 50 episodes, using his law enforcement background and no-nonsense style to create his own identity as a talk show host.
Touted as a man of and for the people, Wilkos’ popularity has skyrocketed and his sincerity and moral fiber have made for a very diverse fan base that includes people from all walks of life. When not watching cartoons with his two young children, Wilkos makes time to catch his favorite show of all time, "The Simpsons," for which he lent his voice for a cameo on a past episode (a milestone he proudly calls "the highlight of my career so far.") Wilkos has also appeared in several TV shows and films, including the hit motion picture "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me."
A huge sports fan, Wilkos can be spotted at various professional sporting events in his free time, such as baseball and football games.
Wilkos and his wife, Rachelle, who is executive producer on "The Steve Wilkos Show" and "The Jerry Springer Show," have two young children and live in Connecticut.

exclusive issues of two new series of Dark Horse comics. The first exclusive series is Conan: The Phantoms of the Black Coast. The second exclusive series is a

To celebrate, Dark Horse will be hosting a signing with Dark
Horse president, Mike Richardson, as well as Ghost artist, Phil Noto, and Captain
Midnight writer, Joshua Williamson at New York Comic Con on Friday October

About the Dynamics ePlate™
Payment Device
Dynamics' ePlate™
payment device is a paper-thin, flexible computing platform in a payment card
format. The device includes the
Electronic Stripe® -- the world's first fully card-programmable magnetic
stripe. The Electronic Stripe® can
be read at any existing point-of-sale (POS) magnetic stripe reader. The device includes two buttons – one
for a first experience and one for a second experience. Based on which experience option was
selected, the device changes the information on the Electronic Stripe™ to
reflect the selected experience so the user can swipe the card in any store and
enjoy the selected experience.
A user can change
the experiences associated with the buttons on the ePlate™ device at any
time. All a user has to do is use
the Dynamics Experience Manager™ software through their favorite phone or
accessible through their online banking account. The Experience Manager™ provides an ecosystem of experiences
that can be assigned to the buttons on a user’s ePlate™ device.
The ePlate™ device
is as durable as a traditional payment card and will last over three years on a
single battery charge. The technology does not require any change to the 60
million 1970s-era magnetic stripe readers or reeducation of its merchant base.

Comics scholars convene at
this week’s New York Comic Con to teach convention-goers and have
fun too. In addition to all the cosplay, comic book creator signings, and
entertainment news panels, New York Comic Con is home to a number of
professional panels as well. A good portion of these professional talks
will be under the umbrella of the Comics Studies Conference. Organized by
the Institute for Comics Studies, the CSC serves to promote the study,
understanding, recognition, and cultural legitimacy of comics and support
the discussion and dissemination of this study and understanding.
The Comics Studies Conference, organized by scholars like Peter
Coogan and Stanford Carpenter, represents the Institute for Comics
Studies’ mission to promote the study, understanding, recognition,

dissemination of this study and understanding via public venues.
CSC
co-organizer Travis Langley, author of the hit book BATMAN AND PSYCHOLOGY:
A DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT, is a Special Guest at NYCC this year, in the
literary category shared by Spotlight Guests Anne Rice and Kim Harrison.
“It is a terrific book,” legendary comic book writer Dennis

fascinating, entertaining, and educational read.”

“Simply speaking, this
is my pick for the best book of 2012.” –

Batman is one of the most compelling and enduring
characters to come from the Golden Age of Comics, and interest in his
story has only increased through countless incarnations since his first
appearance in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. Why does this
superhero without superpowers fascinate us? What does that fascination say
about us? Batman and Psychology: A Dark
and Stormy Knight (Wiley; Paperback; $17.95; 978-1-1181-6765-6/ Also
available in digital and audio forms) explores these and
other intriguing questions about the masked vigilante, including: Does
Batman have PTSD? Why does he fight crime? Why as a vigilante? Why
the mask, the bat, and the underage partner? Why are his most intimate
relationships with “bad girls” he ought to lock up? And why
won't he kill that homicidal, green-haired clown?
