Building Worker Strike Looms

   It's not as if your superintendent will be going on strike on Friday March 13^th , but building managing agents and landlords have sent out notices that the labor contract of the Service Employees International Union Local 32B-32J will be expire at midnight Friday March 13^th. The notices that have been sent out include warnings that come midnight Friday March 13^th the service workers in your building may walk off the job, what to do in the case of the strike by building service workers, including other items such as Security, Housekeeping, Deliveries Elevator service, Emergency repairs, Vandalism, Alterations or renovations to an apartment, Real Estate Brokers and Sales people, and the Laundry rooms.

   Some notices are giving local emergency phone numbers also for the police or fire department, Con Edison, Sanitation Department, Ambulance, and the management or landlord phone number. The last time building workers struck was 15 – 20 years ago which lasted a few days. Just be ready Saturday morning when you don't see the doorman, superintendent, or any other building worker around.
