outdoor space for classes, especially those that require additional spacing per public health guidance.
- Outdoor space can include on-site school yards,
public parks, adjacent streets, and previously approved Play Streets.

COVID and schools with no outdoor space on-site will receive priority.
- Representatives from DOT, NYPD, DSNY, FDNY,
Parks, and the DOE will oversee the approval process.
The Department of Education sent a survey to all principals to collect information on outdoor learning needs for the upcoming school year.
Surveys are due on Friday, August 28th in order to receive a response by Friday, September 4th. Surveys submitted after the 28th will be considered on a rolling basis.
