You should know that the new mayor of New York City, has just rejected the former City Council Member Reverend Fernando Cabrera, when he came under pressure from the Homosexual and Lesbian Communities.
You Should know that Rev. Fernando Cabrera, (for 11 years) served as a City Councilman representing the areas of Fordham Road, Jerome, Webster, and University Avenues. In addition, Rev. Cabrera was a professor and director of the Mental Health and Counseling Program at Mercy College.
It is important for you to also know that after being considered and practically approved, to serve under Mayor Eric Adams Administration, in the NYC Mental Health Office (formerly known as "Thrive NYC") the Rev. Fernando Cabrera was abruptly rejected due to the opposition of the homosexual (LGBTQ) community. Their outrage came when, back in 2014, Councilman Rev. Cabrera made a comment regarding the Ugandan Government's approval and actions on traditional marriage. The homosexual/LGBTQ community pressured Mayor Eric Adams to withdraw his appointment of Rev. Cabrera.
Mayor Eric Adams should have stood firm and should have kept his promise that he would be a Mayor for all people regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual preference, nationality, or skin color.
For years, the Democrat Party and its leaders have increasingly discriminated against people of faith, especially against Evangelical Christians and anyone who does not believe in same-sex marriage and abortion. This has reached an intolerable level. It seems that in this City and State people must deny their faith and religious beliefs to obtain a job that allows them to earn a decent living to provide support for their families.
You should also know that years ago, my wife Leslie was also subjected to the same fate as Rev. Fernando Cabrera; when the City Comptroller Scott Stringer, withdrew a job offer from her. My wife received a call and was informed not to report to work because they withdrew the job offer when they discovered that she had taken part in a demonstration in support of traditional marriage as instituted by God. It was a demonstration, she attended with me and the Ministers, where many in attendance opposed the anticipated legislation for same-sex marriage. For such a cause my wife was deemed not worthy of a job in the City Comptroller’s office. This my dear reader is Religious Discrimination in full view. Let it be known that Christians also have rights, and those rights must be protected and upheld.
Mayor Adams, if seriously is going to be a mayor to all New Yorkers, he cannot allow special interest groups to pressure him and dictate who he employs, with whom he meets, whom he visits and with whom he meets.
We are all New Yorkers, we all pay taxes, we all vote, and we all have different beliefs, and opinions. As people of faith, as Christians we should freely express those opinions without fear of repercussions, or fears of losing our livelihoods. This violates our guaranteed rights under the Constitution. We cannot be discriminated against solely based on our beliefs and opinions. The United States Constitution clearly grants us, "Freedom of Religion" and "Freedom of Speech."
When Eric Adams took his oath of office, and was sworn in, he placed his right hand on the Holy Scriptures and promised to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and the New York State Charter. By rejecting Rev. Fernando Cabrera, despite his qualifications, solely based on his religious beliefs, and comments he made 8 years ago, is obviously being discriminated against, and his constitutional rights have been trampled on.
The Democrat Party cannot continue to use us, kiss our children, attend our Temples and Churches, say to us "God bless you" and do so only during campaign season. Christians are also Democrats, but we are being mistreated, discriminated against and we are being marginalized! This is not right Mr. Mayor.
So, the next time you take an oath, place your right hand on the Holy Scriptures, and promise to uphold and defend the Constitution, please remember that God does not like ugly, and this Mr. Mayor, is very ugly.
I Am the Ex-Senator and Ex-Councilman Rev. Rubén Diaz, and this is What You Should Know. |
