Statewide 7-Day Average Positivity is Now Under 2%

7-Day Cases Down Another 33% From Previous Week, Hospital Admissions Down 25% From Week Prior

 Governor Kathy Hochul today updated New Yorkers on the state's progress combating COVID-19.

"I want to thank New Yorkers for doing their part to keep cases and hospitalizations at sustained low levels across the state over the past weeks," Governor Hochul said. "We can't afford to let our guard down now. Those who have yet to get their vaccine, their second dose, or their booster shot should do so as soon as possible. The vaccine and booster are also critical in protecting our children's health against COVID-19. Let's continue to use these tools and make sure we keep our children and our communities safe."

  • New deaths reported by healthcare facilities through HERDS - 31
  • Total deaths reported by healthcare facilities through HERDS - 54,628

The Health Electronic Response Data System is a NYS DOH data source that collects confirmed daily death data as reported by hospitals, nursing homes and adult care facilities only.

Total deaths reported to and compiled by the CDC - 69,057

This daily COVID-19 provisional death certificate data reported by NYS DOH and NYC to the CDC includes those who died in any location, including hospitals, nursing homes, adult care facilities, at home, in hospice and other settings.
