Summer is here—and so are the many special events that my office helps organize! Read on for a full breakdown of these vital opportunities to troubleshoot housing issues with legal experts, learn about community initiatives, receive lifesaving training, know your rights, donate blood, and celebrate the summer.

Legal Clinics with Communities Resist

Monday, July 1 and Monday, August 5, from 11am-2pm at Senator Salazar’s District Office, 212 Evergreen Avenue     Are you a tenant or part of a tenant union? Could you use help troubleshooting a housing issue with a legal expert? Come to the legal clinics we’re hosting in our District Office on first Mondays of the month! Communities Resist will be offering consultations at no charge. Email teamsalazar@nysenate.gov to secure your spot, or just drop in!  CPR Training    Monday, July 15, 6:30-7:30pm, Borinquen Plaza, 80 Seigel Street   CPR has saved countless lives and remains a critical resource for communities everywhere. Come to this free training, hosted by the Red Cross. It could be that important.  Access-A-Ride Community Conversationess   Thursday, July 11, from 11am-1pm, Lindsay Park, 25 Boerum Street    Have you used the Access-A-Ride Paratransit Service? Would you like more information about it? Come to our community conversation, where representatives from Access-a-Ride will breakdown the service’s details in full, answering your questions as well.   Good Cause Town Hall    Tuesday, July 23, from 6-8pm, El Puente de Williamsburg, 211 S. 4th Street    Good Cause is now law—and we’re now spreading the word about these brand new tenant protections! Join us for a Town Hall where we and community partners will explain this legislation and what it means for you. Assemblymember Emily Gallagher will co-host, presenters include Met Council and Communities Resist, and many others are co-sponsoring. Senator Salazar’s Annual State of the District    Thursday, August 1, from 5-7pm, PS 376, Felisa Rincón de Gautier School of Technology, 194 Harmon Street    Join us for an evening where I will report on the latest from Albany and its impact on our district. You will also hear from my staff about how our office is serving constituents directly and from local organizations about what they’re providing our communities - and we will open the floor to Q&A. I hope to see you there!  NYC Blood Drive   Saturday, August 3, Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 243 Weirfield Street   NYC is low on blood reserves, so the need for donations is higher than usual.
