Defendant Was Allegedly Intoxicated; Sped Through Red Light
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that a Bronx man has been indicted on Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and additional charges for allegedly driving while intoxicated, killing a woman, and severely injuring her boyfriend, an off-duty NYPD Officer, by crashing into their vehicle.
District Attorney Clark said, “The defendant was allegedly intoxicated while he sped through a red light and killed a young woman and injured another person. This tragedy could have been avoided had the driver simply called a cab or used mass transit. Now he has allegedly destroyed lives, including his own.”
District Attorney Clark said the defendant, Dimas Cuadrado., 43, of 575 Castle Hill Avenue, was arraigned on December 16, 2024 before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera on Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, second-degree Manslaughter, Aggravated Vehicular Assault, second-degree Vehicular Manslaughter, first-degree Vehicular Assault, second-degree Assault, Criminally Negligent Homicide, second-degree Vehicular Assault, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence Of Alcohol. Bail was set at $50,000 cash/$350,000 bond/$350.000 partially secured bond at 10%. The defendant is due back in court on March 6, 2024.
According to the investigation, on November 16, 2024, at approximately 12:49 a.m., the defendant was allegedly speeding while driving his 2011 Lincoln sedan northbound on Castle Hill Avenue and went through a red light, crashing into a 2017 Infinity sedan driven by Wilson Torres, 24, an off-duty NYPD Officer. His girlfriend, Dorilys Ramos, 27, was in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Ramos was transported to New York City Health + Hospitals Jacobi where she was pronounced dead. Torres was treated for a broken arm, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung. He also required a tube to breathe. Cuadrado was allegedly intoxicated and blew a .128 on an Intoxilyzer.
District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Enmanuel Rosario of Bronx Highway Unit 1.
An indictment is an accusatory instrument and not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
