Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato

Dear Neighbors,

This week, we continued our commitment to supporting our community by hosting events, attending events, and giving out more Hot Meals. It is always a joy to engage with our amazing community and ensure we keep providing valuable events that meet the needs of our constituents.

In this newsletter, you will find details about the district events that took place this week, along with information on various upcoming events we have planned.

It is an honor to represent you in the New York City Council and continue fighting to keep our community safe, healthy, and prosperous!

Chess with a Cop with NYPD 45th Precinct

Another fantastic Chess with a Cop event in partnership with the NYPD 45th Precinct last Tuesday! ♟️๐Ÿ‘ฎ‍♂️

We were thrilled to see over 30 kids come out to play, learn, and build positive connections with local officers — all while having fun and winning some great prizes! ๐ŸŽ‰

Events like these are a great reminder of how powerful community engagement can be. We're proud to sponsor and support initiatives that bring neighbors together, foster trust, and create lasting memories. ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ’™

Connecting with Local 79!

It’s always a pleasure to connect with our partners in labor! ๐Ÿ’ผ✊

Last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to sit down with Barrie from Laborers Local 79, who stopped by to share important updates and discuss how we can continue to stand in solidarity with our union brothers and sisters.

These conversations are essential to ensuring we stay informed, aligned, and ready to advocate for the rights and well-being of our union families. We're proud to support organized labor and

remain committed to strengthening the partnerships that uplift our workforce. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ› ️

Senior Center Art Showcase

We had a truly wonderful time visiting St. Benedict’s Senior Center Art Showcase! ๐ŸŽจ✨

It was inspiring to see the incredible talent of our seniors on full display — from vibrant paintings to thoughtful creations, each piece told a story and reflected the heart of our community.

This program is a shining example of how City Council funding can directly enrich lives. We're so proud to see that investment come to life through meaningful, creative outlets like this one, where seniors can express themselves, connect with others, and feel celebrated.

Supporting engaging, enriching programs for our older adults isn’t just important — it’s essential. They’ve built so much of the city we love, and we’re committed to ensuring they have the opportunities and spaces to thrive. ๐Ÿ–ผ️๐Ÿ’›

Mother's Day Brunchwith NYPD 49th Precinct

We had a fantastic time at last Thursday’s Mother’s Day Brunch! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’

It was a true joy to come together and celebrate the amazing mothers in our community — women whose strength, love, and resilience continue to inspire us every single day. Whether raising families, supporting neighbors, or shaping the next generation, our moms are the heart of our neighborhoods.

A heartfelt thank you to the NYPD 49th Precinct for your continued partnership and for helping make this event safe, welcoming, and full of joy. ๐Ÿ’™

We’re proud to keep showing up for our moms — not just on Mother’s Day, but all year long. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ‘ง‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ’ช

More Hot Meals!

Last Thursday, we were proud to once again provide hot, nutritious meals to our neighbors at Brady Court! ๐Ÿฝ️

Ensuring that our community—especially our seniors and families—has access to the support and resources they need remains one of our top priorities. These meal distributions are about more than just food; they’re about showing up, building connections, and making sure no one is left behind.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue this important work and will keep pushing forward to uplift and care for the people who make our neighborhoods so special. ๐Ÿ’ช❤️

Hot Meals and more with Throggs Neck BID

No special occasion—just a beautiful day to show some love to the community we’re proud to serve! ❤️

Councilwoman Marmorato teamed up with the Throggs Neck BID and generous local sponsors to distribute 250 hot meals, along with drinks and classic carnival snacks like popcorn and cotton candy ๐Ÿฟ๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿฅค—bringing smiles to neighbors of all ages.

Thank you to everyone who came out to join us, and a special shoutout to NYPD 45th Precinct for lending a hand and helping things run smoothly. Moments like these remind us how strong our community truly is when we come together!

Skate Party!

A little rain couldn’t stop the fun at Saturday’s skate party! ๐ŸŒง️๐Ÿ›ผ

Despite the weather, we rolled into an evening full of energy, laughter, and great music — and our neighbors came ready to enjoy every moment. From kids showing off their moves to families joining in on the fun, it was a reminder of what makes District 13 so special: community spirit and good vibes, rain or shine! ☀️☔️

A big thank you to everyone who came out and made it a night to remember — we can't wait to do it again soon!

Hoops & Heroes

Sunday’s Hoops & Heroes Basketball Game was a slam dunk! ๐Ÿ€

Councilwoman Marmorato was proud to attend and cheer on both teams in this exciting matchup — all in support of a great cause and stronger community ties. Events like this bring out the best in our neighborhoods, creating moments of connection, teamwork, and fun between our officers and local youth.

A big thank you to the NYPD 45th Precinct and the Precinct Council for organizing such a fantastic event. It’s A big thank you to the NYPD 45th Precinct and the Precinct Council for organizing such a fantastic event. It’s

49th Precinct Council's Annual Breakfast

On Monday, we were honored to sponsor the 49th Precinct Council’s Annual Breakfast — a special event that celebrates partnership, service, and the strength of our community. ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿค

It was a privilege for our office to present citations to this year’s outstanding honorees, recognizing their dedication and contributions to keeping our neighborhoods safe and connected. A heartfelt congratulations to all who were recognized — including the well-deserved “Cop of the Year,” Detective Kandice Hall. We're proud to stand with her and all of the men and women who serve with integrity and heart every day. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎ‍♀️

Events like these remind us of the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the community — and we’re proud to continue supporting that mission.

Holy Name Society Luncheon

On Monday, my team and I were honored to join the @nycsanitation Holy Name Society Luncheon — a meaningful event recognizing the dedication and service of some of the hardest-working individuals in our city. ๐Ÿ› ️๐Ÿ™

We were proud to present official citations to Assistant Chief Frank Vitale and honoree Ahmad Ladson, whose remarkable strength and resilience following a devastating on-the-job accident is nothing short of inspiring. His courage reminds us of the sacrifices our sanitation workers make every day to keep New York City running.

A heartfelt thank you to all who serve in the Sanitation Department — your hard work, commitment, and service to our communities do not go unnoticed. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿš›

D13 Case Highlight!

When a community member reached out online about getting the flag flying again at PS 175 on City Island ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ, our office took action right away.

By the very next morning, we were on it — and thanks to the quick response from @nycparks, the flag was proudly raised within 24 hours, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
