It was billed as a fundraiser for Republican candidate for mayor Curtis Sliwa by the Bronx Republican Party. When the final count of the people in attendance, it was right at the two hundred mark. Extra tables had to be set up that even on a stormy night people came to see mayoral Curtis Sliwa and City Council candidate Kristy Marmorato.
Bronx Republican Party Leader Michael Rendino opened the event with a speech on how the Bronx Republican Party was growing, especially with the election of the first Bronx Republican member of the city council in 50 years. He then introduced 13th City Council District Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato who gave a short but spirited speech before Rendino introduced the Republican candidate for mayor Curtis Sliwa.
Sliwa began with a brief history of his 'Bronx Roots', He then said that both Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams were running as independent candidates because Cuomo lost to a relatively unknown assemblyman, and Adams stayed out of the Democratic primary because of his legal problems, short of calling the Adams administration corrupt getting off thanks to Donald Trump. You could see the fire in Sliwa's body as he turned and his voice went up and then low as he spoke carefully choosing his words as to why he was the only hope for New Yorkers to beat Zohan Mamdani rather than Cuomo or Adams.
