NEW YORK COMIC CON EXCLUSIVE!!

Intelligent, savvy and multi-talented writer, director and producer Vlad Yudin of the Vladar Company has partnered with ARCANA Comics on the sci-fi graphic novel ‘HEAD SMASH,’ a sci-fi thriller penned by Erik Hendrix and illustrated by Dwayne Harris. The highly anticipated comic will premiere at this year’s New York Comic Con Convention at an exclusive panel on Thursday, October 11^th at 7:30PM in hall 1A08 at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan. Vlad along with Sean O'Reilly (founder of ARCANA) will debut the special 1^st edition of the graphic novel to the public in addition to discussing the film adaption which is currently in development. 

HEAD SMASH is set in the oppressed city of Ares, where violence reigns supreme and the only means of survival is to join The Horde, a paramilitary organization that keeps the peace through absolute allegiance. The conflicted protagonist Smash, a young rising star within The Horde is brutal, smart and dedicated with the utmost devotion, but when he strays from the rules of The Horde and falls for the beautiful and mysterious Leyla, The Horde turns their back on him and Smash is forced to choose sides. The thrilling novel shares the ultimate story of betrayal, love and loyalty.

Yudin is the owner of The Vladar Company; a media and entertainment production company he co-founded along with his production partner, Edwin Mejia in 2008. The Russian born filmmaker is best known for producing and directing the critically acclaimed biopic about rapper Lee Rios, better known as “Big Pun” in celebration to the Bronx-born, Grammy Nominated artist in the docufilm BIG PUN: THE LEGACY (2008). He has also been praised for LAST DAY OF SUMMER, his second film which he wrote, directed and produced starring DJ Qualls (HUSTLE & FLOW) and Nikki Reed (TWILIGHT).

Arrest at Chase Bank in Riverdale

   On Wednesday October 3rd police from the 50th Precinct took into custody a woman later identified as Dominique McQueen of Heath Avenue from the Chase Manhattan Bank located at 3775 Riverdale Avenue. Ms. McQueen was charged with attempted Grand Larceny, and criminal possession of forged documents according to Lt. Trotta of the 50 Pct.

Oregano Sunday Brunch With Live Music

   Every Sunday at Oregano Restaurant starting at 11 AM and continuing to 3 PM is Sunday Brunch time. As you will see in the photo below there is live music at Oregano's for your enjoyment. You may also want to check out the menu for some delicious food or a drink to listen to the music.

Ice Rink at Van Cortlandt Park Taking Shape

   The first section of the new Van Cortlandt Park Seasonal Ice Skating rink where the main operation center and customer services area was put together as several modular overseas shipping boxes were placed next to  and on top of each other. One by one the steel boxes were placed next to each other, welded together, and then the second floor was added to the bottom floor. The two story structure contains as many as 15 of these modular overseas cargo boxes with windows cut out for viewing and to let sunlight in as you will see in the photos below. 

    The next phase will be to set up the rink itself, and then it is predicted by the operator in early November to have a soft opening before the official opening around Thanksgiving. If everything goes on schedule and the weather gets cold enough to make and keep the ice hard the rink will be in operation 7 days a week. The seasonal ice skating rink is being built on the two front tennis courts that became decrepit over the past years.
