Bronx Politics and Community events

Permits have been filed for an eight-story residential building at 2672 Heath Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights, The Bronx. Located between West 193rd Street and West Kingsbridge Road, the lot is near the Kingsbridge Road subway station, served by the 4 train. Arjon Mucejani is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 86-foot-tall development will yield 32,515 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 47 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 691 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar but no accessory parking.
M.S. Savani Architect, PC is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Construction is complete at The Allen, a new 28-story mixed-use residential tower located at 247 North Avenue in New Rochelle, New York. Designed by Studio V and developed by LCOR, the structure yields a total of 307 rental apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts with 31 units reserved for households earning 80 percent area median income (AMI), as well as 2,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and enclosed parking for 257 vehicles. Aspera Studio is the interior designer of the property, which is located on an interior lot bound by Lecount Place to the north and North Avenue to the south.
Our last on-site update back in February 2024 showed the first set of floors rising above street level with the help of a tower crane. Photographs show the entire reinforced concrete superstructure fully clad in the dark uniform brickwork and a grid of windows. Rounded corners are found across the height of the skyscraper, while several upper-level balconies are visible near the roof parapet which is topped with a large bulkhead clad in the same brick material. The multistory podium and main tower are connected by a series of large diagonal columns that wrap around some of the building’s indoor and outdoor amenities.
Among the units are 12 penthouses that come with their own private outdoor space. Residential amenities include co-working spaces, a mail room, a fitness center with a yoga studio, an outdoor swimming pool and sun deck, a two-story sky lounge with an outdoor terrace, a poker room, a billiards table, arcade machines, a pet spa, and bicycle storage. Asprea Studio served as the interior designer.
LCOR acquired a $94 million loan arranged by JLL Capital Markets for the project. The Allen utilizes a geothermal heating and cooling system, the second such building from the developer after LCOR’s other residential development at 1515 Surf Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn. The developer also plans to implement the same technology for their upcoming Hoboken Connect development in Hoboken, New Jersey.
The property is located in close proximity to the Metro-North Railroad at the New Rochelle station to the west. Direct access to Penn Station is expected in 2027.
Unfortunately, Governor Newsom’s sanctuary state does not cooperate with ICE
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an arrest detainer, or a request for authorities to hold an illegal alien in custody and turn them over to ICE, for Humberto Munoz-Gatica—a criminal illegal alien—who was driving under the influence and tragically killed Barry William Tutt—a 71-year-old man—in Orange County, California in a hit-and-run wreck on November 7, 2025.
This criminal illegal alien was arrested by the Santa Ana Sheriff’s Office.
“On November 8, ICE lodged an arrest detainer for Humberto Munoz-Gatica, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, after he was arrested by Santa Ana Sheriff’s Office and charged with driving under the influence and hit-and-run. This illegal alien killed Barry William Tutt, a 71-year-old man,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Unfortunately, Gavin Newsom's California is a sanctuary state and does not cooperate with ICE. This is yet another example of sanctuary and open border policies putting American lives at risk.”

This illegal alien's rap sheet also includes a conviction for grand theft. Munoz-Gatica entered the U.S. on a tourist visa that expired on August 1, 2008. ICE arrested him for overstaying his visa on January 18, 2011. The Obama administration then RELEASED him into the country.
DHS law enforcement is protecting American communities every day from another senseless tragedy like this taking place in another town, to another family. DHS honors the patriotism and heroism of Americans who served our country and continue to protect our homeland and freedoms by arresting the worst of the worst criminals across the U.S.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security today released the following statement on Veterans Day, highlighting the heroic and patriotic sacrifice of more than 7,500 veterans who bravely served in the military and now defend the homeland as members of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) law enforcement.
“On Veterans Day, we are thankful to the more than 7,500 veterans who bravely served in the US Armed Forces and now continue their service to our great nation as members of ICE law enforcement,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “These brave men and women put their lives on the line every single day to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from American neighborhoods. Just yesterday, ICE arrested pedophiles, rapists, and other violent criminals. We are eternally grateful to all Americans who have bravely served and protected our freedoms. We are only the land of the free because of the brave.”
Today and every day, America’s ICE officers continue to protect our communities and enforce our nation’s laws by arresting criminal illegal aliens who have committed heinous crimes across the U.S. Some of the worst of the worst ICE arrested on November 10 include:

ICE Houston arrested Jesus Hernandez -Hernandez, a 73-year-old criminal illegal alien of Mexico. Hernandez’s criminal history includes a conviction for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 in Dallas County, TX.

ICE Buffalo arrested Delbis De Jesus Hernandez-Vargas, a 46-year-old criminal illegal alien of the Dominican Republic. Hernandez’s criminal history includes a conviction for rape in Bronx, NY.

ICE Salt Lake City arrested Juan Guerra-Ubaldo, a 61-year-old criminal illegal alien of Guatemala. Guerra’s criminal history includes a conviction for sexual abuse of a minor in Washington County, UT.

ICE New York City arrested Luis Castillo-Flores, a 45-year-old criminal illegal alien of the Dominican Republic. Castillo’s criminal history includes a conviction for aggravated assault with intent to cause serious physical injury in Bronx, NY.

ICE Philadelphia arrested Albert Miguel Quinones-Quinones, a 38-year-old criminal illegal alien of Colombia. Quinones’s criminal history includes a conviction for sexual assault in the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas, Pottsville, PA.
New York Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court extended its administrative stay blocking a lower court order that required the distribution of full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits:
“This decision means millions of Americans will once again be left wondering how they will feed their families.
"We hope to see an end to this suffering soon, as the government reopens and SNAP is once again fully funded. In the meantime, any New Yorkers who have received their November SNAP benefits should not be afraid to use them."

Governor Hochul Issues Proclamation Recognizing Veterans Day in New York State
17 State Landmarks To Be Lit Green in Honor of Veterans and as Part of Operation Green Light
Governor Kathy Hochul today issued a proclamation declaring November 11 as Veterans Day and recognizing November as Veterans Month across New York State. Governor Hochul further directed 17 state landmarks to be illuminated green this evening as part of Operation Green Light, which began in New York State and has spread throughout the country to recognize veterans and service members from all eras of military service.
“Tonight, New York State landmarks will illuminate green in honor of the service and sacrifice of our veterans and service members,” Governor Hochul said. “On Veterans Day and every day, we are grateful for those who have made tremendous sacrifices for our country and our state and we remain committed to supporting all those who have served.”
Launched in 2021 as a collaboration among the New York State Association of Counties, the New York State County Executives’ Association, and the New York State County Veteran Service Officers' Association, Operation Green Light is a campaign designed to show support for our nation's veterans, raise awareness of the county role in providing support and resources to veterans, and advocate for legislation that will strengthen counties' ability to support veterans. This statewide initiative has been adopted by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and has spread to hundreds of counties and local governments across the United States.
New York State Department of Veterans’ Services Commissioner Viviana M. DeCohen said, “On Veterans Day, we honor the courage, character, and commitment of all who served – and the loved ones who stood by them with quiet strength and firm resolve. As New York lights green tonight, we shine hope and gratitude across our state, reminding every Veteran and Military Family that they are seen, valued, and never alone. We thank Governor Hochul for her steadfast leadership and her unwavering dedication to uplifting our Veterans and Service Members today and every day.”
These 17 landmarks will be illuminated in green to honor New York’s veterans and service members:
