NYC’s 2023 primary election is coming up on June 27th, and early voting begins today!
Here’s what you need to know:
- Today is the last day to register to vote. Check your voter registration here→If you have a NY State ID, register online here.If you don’t, visit your local NYC Board of Elections office and register in-person.
- Candidates for City Council, District Leader, County Committee, Civil Court and District Attorney are on the ballot. What is on your exact ballot depends on your political party and where you live.
- This year, Ranked Choice Voting will be used for City Council races. Other offices on the ballot — like County Committee and Civil Court judges — will not use Ranked Choice Voting because they are not city offices.
- New Yorkers can take up to 2 hours of paid time off to vote, if your work schedule prevents you from voting in person while polls are open.
- Reminder: where you vote during Early Voting may be different than where you vote on Election Day.
And last reminder: registered voters do not need to show ID to vote! You will only need ID if you are a first-time voter who registered by mail and did not provide identification.
See you at the polls!
