Defendant Allegedly Crashed Car Into Moped In Road-Rage Attack
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a Pennsylvania woman has been indicted on Murder and Manslaughter charges for allegedly intentionally mowing down a 23-year-old moped driver.
District Attorney Clark said, “This driver’s wanton disregard for other people on the streets of the Bronx allegedly led to one death and could have had further catastrophic consequences.”
District Attorney Clark said Lillibeth Vasquez, 28, of Allentown Pennsylvania was arraigned today on second-degree Murder, and first-degree Manslaughter charges before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Raymond Bruce. Remand was continued. The defendant is due back in court on March 21, 2024.
According to the investigation, on November 25, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Southern Boulevard near 163rd Street, Robert Jiminez was driving closely to the defendant’s Honda Civic. In an alleged act of road rage, Vasquez started to chase Jiminez, driving through two red lights, then speeding the wrong way down a one-way street until she crashed her car into the back of the victim’s moped, launching his body into a brick building at Intervale Avenue and Fox Street, leading to his death. The defendant’s car also crashed into the building.
District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Sheldon Smith of Bronx Homicide, NYPD Detective Dwayne Leeshue of the 41st Precinct Squad and Police Officer Darien Yldefonso of the 41st Precinct for their work in the investigation.
An indictment is an accusatory instrument and not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
