YOUTH COLLABORATION SESSIONS WITH NYC PARKS!

As a continuation of the over $9.2 million that my office has allocated towards upgrading and renovating the Hunts Point Recreational Center & Julio Carballo Fields, I partnered with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to hold collaboration sessions with local school youths regarding the continued revitalization efforts of the Julio Carballo Fields Playground at the Hunts Point Recreation Center.   

It was great to hear the students from St. Ignatius School, Bronx NY, and the Bronx Academy for Multi-Media share their ideas for improving and utilizing the Fields.

Congratulations Hostos on the opening of your campus Academic Advisement Center - a new state-of-the-art facility that will help strengthen student success and foster increased community development.

WALKTHROUGH OF E149TH ST & BERGEN 

For those who know the area, the corner of E149th St & Bergen is one of many blocks in the Melrose section of the Bronx facing rising quality of life issues - exacerbated further by the Opioid pandemic.  

I joined NYCEDC staff & local business owners for a walkthrough to discuss proposed plans to improve this area, beginning with the revitalization of the E 149th/Bergen Plaza.
