Façade Work Progresses on 586 Gerard Avenue in Concourse Village, The Bronx

Exterior work is progressing on 586 Gerard Avenue, a nine-story residential building in Concourse Village, The Bronx. Designed by Issac & Stern Architects and developed by The Karten Organization under the SB Gerard Avenue LLC, the 90-foot-tall structure will span 222,000 square feet and yield 200 rental units with an average scope of 713 square feet, as well as 4,576 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, a cellar level, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and an 80-vehicle parking garage. The property is located at the corner of Gerard Avenue and East 150th Street.

Recent photographs show the reinforced concrete superstructure topped out and shrouded in scaffolding and construction netting as crews work to install the red brick façade and grid of windows.

Close-up images give a glimpse of the brick walls and recessed windows lined with black mullions and metal ventilation grilles.

The main rendering depicts 586 Gerard Avenue with a massing composed of pattern of alternating seven- and nine-story rectangular volumes enclosed in red brick and black EIFS panels. Setbacks atop the shorter volumes will likely create space for terraces, and balconies protrude from the ninth story of each void. A two-story glass wall at the center of the western elevation will house the main entrance, and new tree-lined sidewalks surround the western and southern sides of the property.

The below rendering is an earlier iteration that featured a similar design but with a different color palette.

Residential amenities will include a pet spa, fitness center, screening room, lounge, business center, and parking garage.

The nearest subways from the development are the 2, 4, and 5 trains at the 149th Street-Grand Concourse station to the south.

586 Gerard Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for October 2024, as noted on site. However, sometime in the first half of 2025 is more likely.
