PAROLE OFFICER AND A BRONX MAN INDICTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER IN SHOOTINGS AT NIGHTCLUB; THREE BRONX MEN CHARGED WITH TAKING BALLISTIC EVIDENCE AND LYING TO COPS ABOUT INCIDENT

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a NYS Parole Officer and another man have been indicted for Attempted Murder, Assault, and other charges in the gunfire at the Kutty Bar and Lounge on Labor Day. The club’s owners and a security guard are charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence for removing shell casings from the scene.

District Attorney Clark said “One man is charged with shooting towards a group of people allegedly because he was ejected from the club, wounding a man, and a NYS parole officer allegedly showed disregard when he fired at the suspect from a distance behind him, then allegedly fled the scene. We cannot tolerate gunfire on our streets by anyone.”

District Attorney Clark said Michael Stewart, 49, a Parole Officer with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, was indicted on Attempted Murder second degree, first-degree Assault, second-degree Assault, first-degree Criminal Use of a Firearm, second-degree Reckless Endangerment, first-degree Falsifying Business Records. He was arraigned today before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera. Bail was set at $75,000 cash. He is due back in court on December 19, 2024. Prodrika Thompson, 40, of Tilden Street, was indicted on Attempted Murder second-degree, Attempted Assault first-degree, second-degree Assault, first-degree Criminal Use of a Firearm, second-degree Criminal Use of a Firearm, second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, first- and second-degree Reckless Endangerment. He is hospitalized and will be arraigned at a later date.

According to the investigation, at about 1:45 am on September 2, 2024, Prodrika Thompson was removed from the Kutty Bar and Lounge at 2525 Boston Road. Thompson went to his vehicle across the street and retrieved a semi-automatic pistol. He then returned to the club and allegedly opened fire, shooting two rounds and striking a man in the leg. Stewart, who was off-duty, was standing in front of the club and saw Thompson shooting. He fired once at Thompson immediately after the shooting. Then, after Thompson had walked and crossed Boston Road, Stewart fired again from approximately 115 feet away, striking Thompson in the groin.

According to the investigation, Thompson attempted to flee in his vehicle but crashed nearby as a result of his injuries. Responding NYPD Police Officers provided emergency medical treatment to save his life. Stewart, meanwhile, entered his vehicle and allegedly fled the location and ultimately returned to the scene nearly an hour later.

According to the investigation, Kurt Earle, 48, of Baychester Avenue, and Obrien Wilson, 48, of Soundview Avenue, the owners of the Kutty Bar and Stewart’s friends, and Richard Harrison, 48, of Mace Avenue, who worked security for the club, allegedly picked up the shell casings that were ejected from Stewart’s firearm and then lied to responding officers about the incident. They were indicted on Tampering with Physical Evidence and second-degree Obstructing Governmental Administration.

District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Miguel Adorno from the 49th Precinct Squad for his work in the investigation.

An indictment is an accusatory instrument and not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
