State Comptroller DiNapoli, Allegany County District Attorney Ian Jones, and the New York State Police announced the arrest of a Fillmore woman for the alleged theft of $29,893 in State pension checks sent to her deceased stepfather.

Florida Man Charged with Stealing Nearly $80,000 in Pension Benefits Issued to His Deceased Father
State Comptroller DiNapoli and District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a Florida man was charged with grand larceny and identity theft for allegedly accepting, withdrawing and spending nearly $80,000 in funds from pension payments made by the New York State and Local Retirement System to the defendant’s father, who had passed away in 2019.

Audit Finds More Oversight Needed for Certain Medicaid Managed Care Payments
A new audit from State Comptroller DiNapoli found that, between July 2018 and May 2023, about $117 million was paid for Medicaid services that did not conform to requirements of the Recipient Restriction Program because of a lack of oversight and controls by the Department of Health, the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General, and managed care organizations.
