Today marks the start of a new year, providing an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments and successes of our office during this past inaugural year serving the District 13 community.
In this newsletter, we present a recap of our key initiatives, including the projects we funded, highlights from constituent casework, events we hosted, resources we provided, and much more.
As we look ahead to this year, we remain committed to serving our District 13 community members.

2024 Year Recap & Accomplishments in District 13
The Office of Councilwoman Marmorato focused on allocating funding for the 2024 year to support Senior Centers, Cultural Organizations, Environmental Initiatives, and much more!
Here is a brief summary of the funds allocated in D13:
Senior Centers- $260,000
- Senior Programming in Ginsburg Older Adult Center, Morris Park, and City Island Older Adult Center.
- Social events for Seniors in Northeast Bronx
Cultural Organizations- $485,000
Organizations include:
- American-Italian Cancer Foundation
- An Claidheamh Soluis, Inc.
- Arts Connection, Inc., The Asian American Federation, Inc.
- Dominican Veterans of America, Inc.
- East Bronx History Forum
- Forum of Italian American Educators 1, Inc.
- Greek American Educational Public
- Information System, Inc.
- Morris Park Community Association, Inc.
- Muslim American Society of New York, Inc.
- New York Botanical Garden
- Notes in Motion, Inc.
- Reel Stories Teen Filmmaking, Inc.
- Society of the Third Street Music School Settlement
Parks and Recreation Services- $90,000
- Supports Community programming in smaller neighborhood parks within DC13
- This includes: Sports programming, Arts and Culture, Beautification Projects, Orchard Beach Drive in Movie, Spring Festival, Fall Festival, Father’s Day event, and more.
Environmental Initiatives- $380,000
- Supports environmentally friendly programs that encourage education, advocacy, community service and green job training, which improves NYC’s air, land energy, open spaces, and other vital resources.
- This includes: Green Thumb Gardening Program, P.S. 175, P.S. 083, New York Botanical Garden, and Horticultural Society of New York
Anti-Poverty Initiatives- $40,000
- Provide food and fresh produce to those in need
- Provide screening for thyroid cancer in DC13
Veteran Services- $40,000
- Supporting our Veterans transition into the civilian workforce
Police Department- $140,000
- Supports renovation at the 45 Precinct as well as their community outreach program
- Supports the 49’s community outreach program and partnership with the Precinct Community Council
- Supports Domestic Violence services in the 45 and 49 Precincts
Here is our Capital Funding Summary showcasing the projects that have received funding within the community!
- $2.8 Million - Schools and Youth: Investing in educational programs and resources to enhance academic opportunity
- $4.0 Million - City Island: Alongside the Speaker's office, we were able to allocate this money for the NYPL's HVAC system
- $1.5 Million - DSNY, FDNY, NYPD: Providing essential resources and support for our dedicated first responders and city services to ensure community safety
- $395,000 - Seniors: Supporting programs and services that improve the quality of life for our senior citizens
- $355,000 - Parks and Environment: Maintaining and improving our parks, promoting green spaces, and environmental sustainability
- $355,000 - Civic and Community Associations: Supporting local organizations that promote community engagement and support neighborhood initiatives
- $160,000 - Children and Families with Disabilities: Funding programs that assist children and families with disabilities
This year, we successfully passed our very first resolution, Res 441!
Res 0441-2024 - Resolution designating March 29 annually as Vietnam Veterans Day in the City of New York in honor of the bravery and sacrifice of the Americans who served and in recognition of the past and present dedication of their families and caregivers. |
Serving You!This week, we are pleased to highlight two successfully resolved cases! We are actively addressing the issue of abandoned or vehicles without valid plates in District 13. We extend our sincere gratitude to our constituents for bringing these matters to our attention, and we commend he 49th Precinct for their prompt actions in removing these vehicles. If you live in District 13 and need help with a City Agency contact my office at:718-931-1721. We are open from Monday - Thursday 9 AM - 5 PM and Fridays from 9 AM - 2 PM.
