Green Scholars: Wilderness Warriors
This session will bring Green Scholars closer to nature, learning about the plants and animals around you and learning some important wilderness skills along the way such as how to build a shelter, camping 101, and how to take care of yourself when hiking and camping. This internship will take place over 4 Saturdays from 10am to 12pm starting on April 19 with a final overnight camping adventure in the park on Friday, May 16.
Green Scholars: Garden Gurus
This Green Scholars session will show participants what it takes to care for a garden including the importance of composting and the science behind it, how to organize and plant garden beds and much more. This internship will take place over 5 Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm starting on May 7, 2025.
Garden 2 Market Internship
This 8 week internship will teach participants about our food system from growing to selling and eating. Interns will work in our garden learning about horticulture, composting, and the importance of community gardens. When not in the garden, interns will learn about food justice issues and what it takes to run a weekly farm stand from start to finish.
Applications are due April 11th for first year interns and March 30th for returning interns.
Urban Eco Teens
This 7 week internship will teach participants about how to care for a natural area from pulling invasive species in the northwest forest to getting in our pond to work with an aquatic invasive species. Interns will perform many tasks that help keep Van Cortlandt Park such an amazing park for the community. Interns will also have a chance to meet various other green professionals and learn about the different paths for a green career.
Applications are due April 25th for first year interns and April 4th for returning interns.
