Defendant Pleaded Guilty to Manslaughter
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a Bronx man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for first-degree Manslaughter for strangling his girlfriend to death.
District Attorney Clark said, “The defendant strangled his girlfriend, and he has now been held accountable with a substantial prison sentence.”
District Attorney Clark said the defendant, Jeremy Cortorreal, 35, of 647 Cauldwell Avenue, the Bronx, was sentenced on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, to 20 years in prison and five years post release supervision for first-degree Manslaughter by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Audrey Stone. He pleaded guilty on March 13, 2025.
According to the investigation, between March 21, 2023 and March 22, 2023, inside the apartment the defendant shared with his girlfriend, Lissette Gomez, 38, Cortorreal strangled Gomez, causing her death. He was arrested the following day.
District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Brianna Constantino of the Bronx Homicide Squad for her work on the case.
