BABYSITTER INDICTED FOR WHIPPING YOUNG BROTHERS WITH BELT 4-Year -Old and 6-Year-Old Boys Allegedly Struck Dozens of Times;

Incident Captured on Camera

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a Brooklyn woman has been indicted for second-degree Assault and additional charges for allegedly whipping two boys with a belt and a clothes hanger while caring for them in their Bronx apartment.

District Attorney Clark said “The defendant, hired as a babysitter, allegedly struck two young boys multiple times while they screamed in agony. She betrayed their mother’s trust and traumatized the children.”

District Attorney Clark said La’Keysha Jackson, 24, of Van Buren Street, Brooklyn, was indicted on two counts of second-degree Assault, four counts of fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, three counts of Attempted Assault in the second degree, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was arraigned today before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Audrey Stone. Bail was set at $75,000 cash/$150,000 bond/$150.000 partially secured bond at 10%. She is due back in court on August 12, 2025.

According to the investigation, the defendant, an employee of Selfhelp, provided home making services to the family between April 2024 and May 2025 after they were referred by the Administration for Children’s Services to the Family Home Care program. Jackson was allegedly caught on a home video monitor on May 7, 2025, whipping a 6-year-old and 4-year-old with a belt dozens of times. She also allegedly struck the 4-year-old with a pink hanger on three occasions between April 6, 2025, and May 7, 2025. She was also recorded screaming at the children, who were crying.

District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Eric Droz from the Bronx Child Abuse Squad and NYPD Detective Cesar De Leon from the Bronx Warrant Squad for their work in the investigation.

An indictment is an accusatory instrument and not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
