BRONX MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS-TO-LIFE IN PRISON FOR FATALLY STABBING MAN WHO RECENTLY MOVED TO THE BRONX

Victim Stabbed 27 Times in Broad Daylight in Hub

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a Bronx man has been sentenced to 20 years-to-life in prison for second-degree Murder for stabbing a man to death in broad daylight.

District Attorney Clark said, “This defendant along with a co-conspirator viciously stabbed the victim multiple times and killed him. With this life sentence, I hope that the victim’s family will take solace in knowing that their loved one’s killers have been brought to justice.”

District Attorney Clark said the defendant, Angel Silva, 50, of East 172nd St., the Bronx, was sentenced on February 24, 2026, to 20-years-to life by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Joseph McCormack. The defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree Murder on January 14, 2026. Silva’s co-defendant, Wilfredo Pacheco, pleaded guilty to first-degree Manslaughter on October 30, 2025. Pacheco was sentenced to 20 years in prison on December 9, 2025.

According to the investigation, at approximately 11:45 a.m. on August 26, 2023, Silva and his co-defendant approached the victim, Jyleal Connor, 36, in the vicinity of Bergen Avenue and East 149th Street. The defendants, both armed with large knives, stabbed the victim 27 times. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras. Connor was rushed to NYC Health + Hospital Lincoln where he died from his injuries. A hat left at the crime scene contained DNA that matched Silva. Pacheco had a prior disagreement with the victim and on the day of the murder asked Silva to accompany him to confront Connor.

District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Shirley Perez Romero of Bronx Homicide Squad for her work on the case.
