Commemoration of the Battle of Westchester Creek on Sunday, October 11th, 1:30 pm. Location: White Castle, 2900 E. Tremont Avenue.

Dear East Bronx History Forum Member,

Please join us along with The Bronx County Historical Society and Revolutionary Westchester 250 on Sunday, October 11th at 1:30 pm for a ceremony commemorating the Battle of Westchester Creek and the heroic colonists of Westchester Village who helped to thwart the attempts of the British and to stall their advance after their landing in The Bronx. We will hear stories of the British landing at Throggs Neck and how they lined present-day East Tremont Avenue with soldiers who were perched on Dudley Ave by the First Presbyterian Church of Throggs Neck. In addition, we will hear the story of local heroine Charity Ferris, and finally, the story of William S. Smith, directly involved in the strategy to secure Westchester Creek and the surrounding village from the invading British Forces.
        Looking forward to seeing you.
