1818 Prospect Avenue in Crotona Park East, The Bronx via Google Maps
Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 1818 Prospect Avenue in Crotona Park East, The Bronx. Located between East 175th Street and East 176th Street, the interior lot is closest to the 174th Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Moses Freund of The Vaja Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 75-foot-tall development will yield 32,019 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 46 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 696 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a basement, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and 15 enclosed parking spaces.
BTE Design Services is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Governor Kathy Hochul today updated New Yorkers on the state's progress combating COVID-19.
"I want to thank New Yorkers for doing their part to keep cases and hospitalizations at sustained low levels across the state over the past weeks," Governor Hochul said. "We can't afford to let our guard down now. Those who have yet to get their vaccine, their second dose, or their booster shot should do so as soon as possible. The vaccine and booster are also critical in protecting our children's health against COVID-19. Let's continue to use these tools and make sure we keep our children and our communities safe."
Today's data is summarized briefly below:

New York Attorney General Letitia James issued the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court:
“Today is an important, historic day for all Americans, but especially for every little Black girl who, for the first time, will soon see herself represented in the highest court of the land.
From her time as a public defender, through her current role as circuit judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is a brilliant legal mind who has dedicated her life and career to public service and justice in all forms.
The Supreme Court must reflect the diversity and inclusivity of our nation. I congratulate Judge Jackson on her trailblazing nomination, and I look forward to hearing more about her accomplishments in the upcoming hearing.”
Attorney General James is the first Black attorney general in New York state history, the first woman elected attorney general in New York, and the first Black woman elected statewide in New York.
"One hundred and twenty-five years after our nation’s highest court upheld segregation, the first Black woman has been nominated to the Supreme Court. I congratulate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her historic nomination, one which I hope will send a powerful message to young Black women across the nation, like my daughters, about what they can do, and what still has to be done. I also hope that as we continue to progress, we can go from groundbreaking ‘firsts’ to seconds, thirds, and new paradigms.
"In addition to the historic nature of her nomination, Judge Jackson is ideally suited for this moment and for the challenges facing our country and the court. On civil rights and racial justice; on protecting reproductive freedoms and workers rights; on combating gun violence and threats to our democracy; and so much more, the Supreme Court will be vital. It is critical that even with the realities of a conservative majority, we have jurists like Judge Jackson guiding the court and helping us to move forward with the gains we have made across decades, not recede from them.
"Judge Jackson’s legal background also sets her apart and makes her a crucial voice – as a former federal public defender – the first in the court’s history – she understands and involves herself in the fight for the marginalized. She understands the justice system in its many structural injustices, and has worked unremittingly to improve it. I urge the Senate to move quickly to confirm her appointment, and look forward to seeing her take her place on the Court and in our history."
