Dear Neighbor,
Thank you for joining us for another week in review.
This weekend, we had the honor of joining the Hip Hop Museum for a historic occasion—the unveiling of an 18-foot-tall sculpture of Eric Orr`s Rappin` Max Robot that was created to celebrate the first Olympics to feature breakdancing as a sport. It was a moment of immense pride as we celebrated not only the legacy of hip-hop but also its ongoing influence. I was also proud to present a $1 million check to the Hip Hop Museum to commemorate the 51st anniversary of hip-hop and to fulfill a commitment I made during our State of the Borough to support the opening of this cultural institution in our borough. Hip-hop originated in the Bronx and will continue to shape our borough`s culture and inspire generations of artists. We look forward to its opening!
We are also excited to announce the launch of our Farmers Market Pop-Ups! Starting this month, we will be at locations across the borough distributing Health Bucks ($2 coupons) that can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers markets across the city. We made a $10,000 investment in this initiative because we have seen firsthand the impact health bucks can have in improving nutrition and combatting hunger. My team and I look forward to seeing all of you as we travel across the Bronx with the goal of making fresh, healthy food more accessible to everyone.
1st Pop-Up:
Thursday, August 15th

IN THE COMMUNITY
By providing backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and other services for our youth, we’re not just preparing our students for a new school year— we’re investing in their future.
I want to thank P.S. 065 Mother Hale Academy, Montefiore Einstein, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Age of Learning, Newline Interactive, Bronx EOC, and Unique People Services for their partnership on our Back to School Health & Literacy Fair.
We had an amazing time at the National Dominican Day Parade! Congratulations to all the honorees, including our very own Deputy Borough President, who are proudly representing the culture and heritage of our Dominican American community in the Bronx and New York City.
We are taking a bite out of hunger!
We just announced a combined investment with Council Member Eric Dinowitz of $15,000 in health bucks because we have seen firsthand the impact this initiative can have in combatting hunger, improving nutrition, increasing access to healthy food, and increasing our urban agriculture.
I want to thank my colleague, Council Member Eric Dinowitz, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and Grow NYC for their partnership in reducing hunger and improving our borough`s health infrastructure.
Rain or shine, we were outside for National Night Out Against Crime!
It was great seeing all of you as we supported our neighbors, local law enforcement, and community groups joining forces to enhance safety and foster trust.
Let’s continue working together to create a secure and vibrant environment for everyone.
Thank you to all who participated and made this night a success!
