BRONX MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SHOOTING AT MOVING CAR ON RESIDENTIAL STREET IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

Defendant Convicted by Jury

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that a Bronx man has been sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison for Attempted Assault in the first degree and gun possession charges for firing multiple shots at a moving car. District Attorney Clark said, “

The defendant ran towards a car, pulled a gun from his pocket and fired multiple shots at the vehicle as it was driven down a residential street. It is just pure luck that someone was not injured or killed because of the actions of this defendant. A Bronx jury sent a message that violence on our streets is not tolerated.”

The defendant, Alieu Jarjou, 29, of East 229th Street, was sentenced today by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Timothy Lewis to 8 ½ years in prison and five years post release supervision for Attempted Assault in the first-degree, and 3 ½ years in prison on each of two counts of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The Attempted Assault and one of the gun possession sentences are to run consecutively for a total of 12 years. Jarjou was found guilty by a jury of those charges on November 21, 2024.

According to the facts at trial, on January 2, 2022, at approximately 4:10 p.m., the defendant approached a blue car in front of 1065 East 232nd Street in the Edenwald section of the Bronx. He fired five rounds at the vehicle as it drove away, with one round striking the vehicle and entering through the trunk. On January 19, 2022, the defendant was spotted driving a vehicle near the 47th Precinct stationhouse. When he was pulled over and arrested, a loaded handgun, separate from the one used on January 2nd, was recovered from the defendant’s jacket pocket.

District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Robert Konner of the 47th Precinct Squad for his work on this case.
