City Hall, NY… City Council Member Kristy Marmorato of Bronx's 13th District issued the following statement in response to today's Bally's Bronx Casino vote.
"Today’s vote was the result of a deeply flawed and politically manipulated process — one that deliberately excluded the voice of District 13 and ignored the will of the people I was elected to represent.
"The Mayor’s Office, powerful outside interests and lobbyists did everything they could to force this proposal forward — behind closed doors, without transparency, and without respect for the residents of District 13. And while the Council may have spoken today, the people of my district will have the final word.
"This fight is not over. This project must still go through the ULURP process — and I will use every tool available to oppose it. Our community will not be steamrolled by special interests, and I will not stop until this harmful proposal is defeated for good.
"Let this be a message to every developer and lobbyist looking to exploit our borough: the Bronx and District 13 is not for sale. Not on my watch."
