State Senator Jamaal Bailey 7th Annual Community Barbecue

Saturday July 21t was the 7th Annual State Senator Jamaal Bailey Community Barbecue. Elected official from the state legislature and city council were on hand along with hundreds of people from the senate district. 

State Senators who were on hand included State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, John Liu from Queens, Rozanne Persaud and Zellnor Myrie from Brooklyn, Michelle Hinchey from Kingston, and Nathalia Fernandez, Jose Serrano Jr., and Lui Sepulveda from the Bronx. Assembly members included Speaker Carl Heastie, Yudelka Tapia, and John Zaccaro Jr. City Council member Amanda Farias, Kevin Riley, Rafael Salamanca, and Marjorie Velazquez, and Judge Yahdira Gonzalez Taylor. The NYPD Ceremonial Unit presented arms and Officer Aponte ang the National Anthem, while Minister Elston Henry sang the Black National Anthem.

State Senator Jamaal Bailey mentions some of his guests for his barbecue from Albany and the city council.

His mentor and Speaker of the State Assembly Carl Heastie was first to speak.

Of course State Senate Majority leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins was called up to speak.

Local Councilman Kevin Riley was also asked to say a few words.
