New York is not just a city; it's our home. All of us at GrowNYC take immense pride in the work we do across all five boroughs to create a more sustainable and resilient city for all.
This year we’ve made enormous strides in making this vision a reality.
We collected 2.6 million lbs of food scraps for composting, diverting them from rotting in landfills
We added 46,500 sq feet of green space to our city’s landscape with the construction of 7 new community gardens
We engaged 459,500 kids and adults in education programming encouraging stewardship of our city and our planet
We distributed 2 million lbs of locally grown food from our Food Hub, supporting 50 regional farmers and producers
Yes, but: In 2023 NYC saw unseasonably high temperatures and extreme rainfall and flash flooding. Our region lost an average of one farm every three days. The city government cut vital funding for climate change fighting initiatives like community composting.
We need your support now: GrowNYC’s mission is more urgent than ever. This holiday season, we ask you to recognize the critical nature of our work and stand with us in the fight against the effects of climate change on the city we love.
