Victim Was Punched, Pulled from Elevator at Knifepoint and Raped
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a Bronx man has been indicted for Predatory Sexual Assault Against A Child for allegedly raping a teenage girl in a CoOp City building stairwell.
District Attorney Clark said, “This is a nightmare for the young victim who was viciously assaulted by the defendant. He allegedly punched her, overpowered her, and took her at knifepoint into a stairwell and raped her. This defendant will now face justice for this heinous act.”
The defendant, Casmine Aska, 29, of Nelson Avenue, the Bronx, was arraigned Tuesday, July 1, 2025, on Predatory Sexual Assault Against A Child, first-degree Rape, first-degree Sexual Abuse, fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Endangering the Welfare of a Child before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Lawrence Busching. He is remanded and is due back in court on September 9, 2025.
According to the investigation, on February 27, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m. inside an apartment building in Co-Op City, the defendant and the 15-year-old girl were riding in the elevator when the defendant allegedly punched her in the face, and she fell to the floor. This was captured on the elevator’s surveillance camera. When the elevators doors opened, the defendant allegedly displayed a knife and forced the victim to a stairwell where he raped her.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, treated, and released. The defendant was arrested on February 28, 2025.
District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Ernesto Castillo of the Bronx Special Victims Unit for his work in the investigation.
An indictment is an accusatory instrument and not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
