an exhibition celebrating a selection of Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) awardees working across the visual arts.
 | Join us at the Bronx River Art Center (BRAC) on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 6pm for the exhibition Opening Reception and celebrate the breadth of contemporary culture in The Bronx! | The sixth BRIO Retrospective highlights a selection of 2021–25 Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) awardees working in the visual arts. The BRIO Award is a long-standing BCA initiative that honors the artistic excellence of Bronx-based artists. In addition to public recognition, BRIO provides direct financial support in the form of a $5,000 unrestricted grant to artists working across a wide range of disciplines. BRIO affirms the essential role Bronx artists play in shaping the borough’s cultural life. The exhibition emerges as both a celebration of this important award and a vibrant mosaic of Bronx talent, reflecting the breadth of creative inquiry and lived experience shaping contemporary artistic practice in the borough. The works engage with pressing social, racial, environmental, and identity-based issues through diverse media, including mixed media, etching, painting, photography, installation, and textile.
