Van Cortlandt Nature Group Walks
Tuesday, August 4 at 2pm - Meets in Riverdale Stables parking lot
Saturday, August 8 at 9:30am - Meets in front of Nature Center
Take a slow walk in the park and learn about local flora and fauna with naturalist Debbi Dolan. Debbi has a wealth of knowledge about nature, plants, and wildlife that she enjoys sharing.

Paper Making with Michelle Brody
Friday, August 7 - 1:30pm to 4pm
Transform weeds into art! Using fibers sourced from nonnative and invasive plants such as abaca (a relative of the banana plant) and kozo (paper mulberry), sculpt handmade paper with artist Michele Brody. The resulting sculptures—impressions of tree trunks and roots—will be incorporated into the artist’s multi-media installation, to be shown at the Kingsbridge Historical Society at the end of the year. This workshop is for ages 15 and up.

Family Friday in the Garden
Friday, August 7 - 10am to 12pm
Dig for compost critters, water the plants, explore nature, harvest some veggies, and so much more at VCPA’s Learning Garden!
This is a FREE drop-in program for children ages 2 to 11 accompanied by an adult.

Thursdays, August, 6, 13 - 7pm to 8pm
Exploratory yoga sessions, incorporating elements of Vinyasa and focusing on mindful movement. Beginners welcome. BYOM: Bring Your Own Mat! No experience needed, just bring a mat, water, and an open heart.

Nature Crafts at Indian Field
Thursdays, August 6, 13 - 10am to 12pm
Join VCPA educator Lindsey Kriaris for hands-on, crafty fun with chalk watercolor paintings, nature crowns, and more. Get creative with a different project each week. Great for ages 3-11.

Caribbean Connections
Saturday, August 15 - 1pm to 4pm
Join VCPA and Van Cortlandt House Museum for an afternoon that brings together history, music, and flavor. This unique program highlights the significant ties between early New York and the Caribbean and Latin America.

Caribeando with Juan Usera and the Sambuco Tribe
Saturday, August 22 - 2pm to 4pm
Caribeando features live music highlighting traditional Caribbean rhythms and dances including bomba, plena, guaracha, and changüí. Led by master percussionist Juan Usera,  an Afro-Puerto Rican artist and culture-bearer whose work is deeply rooted in the traditional African-based dance forms of Bomba and Plena. Watch! Learn!
