BRONX MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER IN FATAL GUNPOINT BODEGA ROBBERY

Defendant Allegedly Robbed the Victim as He Lay Dying

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that a Bronx man has been indicted on Murder and related charges for allegedly shooting a man inside a bodega and robbing the victim while he was mortally wounded.

District Attorney Clark said, “This defendant, who had been paroled from state prison in April, allegedly shot and killed a convenience store customer. He then allegedly fired his weapon at two other individuals inside the store. No one should fear for their safety when simply going to a bodega. We will get justice for the victim and his loved ones.”

District Attorney Clark said that defendant Jesus Acosta, 31, the Bronx, was arraigned today on first-degree Murder and related charges by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Alvin Yearwood. Remand was continued. Acosta is due back in court on December 14, 2026.

District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Anthony Velez of the Bronx Homicide Squad and Police Officer Stephen Ruslo of the 44th Precinct for their work in the investigation.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
