Yesterday, my district office was vandalized. The office door containing my image was completely smashed. Video footage captures the perpetrator committing this act in the dead of night around 4am.
Every act of targeting and intimidation just makes our team stronger. Ours has always been a movement to win against all odds, to bring a new voice to government, and to empower all New Yorkers who do not have a seat at the table of power in our City.
According to She Should Run, two-thirds of women said they were less likely to run for office because of toxic politics. The Brennan Center further revealed that 43% of state representatives nationally have experienced threats of violence. Team Jenifer is undeterred, working every day to bring people together and end the extremism, toxicity, and violence threatening our political discourse.
I am working with the NYPD to investigate this vandalism. Thank you to my partners Police Commissioner Edward Caban, First Deputy Commissioner Tania Kinsella, Patrol Borough Queens South Assistant Chief Kevin Williams, and Deputy Inspector Jeremy Kivlin of the 102nd Precinct.
Enclosed: photo of vandalism.
