Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson - Community Resources & Updates

Dear Neighbor,

Thank you for joining us for another week in review.

As we approach the Labor Day weekend, we want to wish you and your family a safe and healthy holiday. Please remember to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and follow all safety guidelines if you plan to travel to the beach to ensure a fun and accident-free weekend.

We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for our Annual Summer Concert Series. It has been a pleasure traveling across the Bronx, bringing music and entertainment to every corner of our borough. As we wrap up this series, we invite you and your loved ones to join us at our Grand Finale Concert in Co-Op City on Sunday, September 1st, from 2 PM – 8 PM. This special event will feature the Bronx Night Market for the first time in Co-Op City, promising a vibrant and memorable experience for all!

Finally, a reminder: starting October 6th, 2024, mandatory composting will be implemented across the city. To assist with this new initiative, free composting bins will be available until October 28th, 2024. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to contribute to our city's sustainability efforts and make a positive impact on our environment. You can click here for more information.

Wishing you all a fantastic Labor Day weekend and looking forward to seeing you at our grand finale!

IN THE COMMUNITY

We were at Poe Park for the continuation of our Health Bucks distribution! Thank you to Grow NYC for their partnership in our initiative to combat hunger and improve nutrition.

Our Annual Summer Concert Series continued at Ferry Point Park as we celebrated Ecuadorian culture and music.

And that’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who called in to last night’s Ask the BP.

Our team attended the National Fentanyl Awareness Day Bronx Health Fair at St. Mary’s Park. We were honored to join Samaritan Daytop Village and nearly 30 community partners.

It’s important for us to meet our residents where they are, teach harm reduction strategies, provide health screenings and narcan trainings.
