Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark today announced that a Bronx man has been indicted for second-degree Murder and additional charges for stabbing a man in an alleged act of street justice.
District Attorney Clark said “The defendant, in a fit of rage, carried out this senseless act of brutality in broad daylight. He allegedly blamed the victim for setting a fire that led to the loss of his home. Such vengeance cannot and will not be tolerated in the Bronx.”
District Attorney Clark said Kayjon Yizar, 28, of East Tremont Avenue, was indicted on second-degree Murder, first-degree Manslaughter, and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arraigned before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Cynthia Isales on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was remanded and is due back in court on April 15, 2025.
According to the investigation, on December 24, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m. in front of 101 East Tremont Avenue in the Mount Hope section, a designated Red Cross Shelter for people in need of temporary shelter after a fire, Yizar approached Arkmayer Davis, 36, and allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the head and body. The victim managed to run into the shelter and collapsed. He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he later died. The attack was captured on video surveillance. Yizar was arrested on December 25, 2024. The defendant allegedly blamed the victim for starting a fire in their prior residence, 1331 Findlay Avenue, on December 2, 2024. The fire temporarily displaced some residents. The defendant’s apartment sustained more severe damage and he could not return to it. The victim was not charged for anything related to that fire.
District Attorney Clark thanked NYPD Detective Frankie Soler of the Bronx Homicide Squad, and NYPD Detectives Indiana McGowan-Anderson, Thomas Geberth, and Moises Rodriguez of the 46th Precinct Squad, for their work on the investigation.
An indictment is an accusatory instrument and not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
