MAYOR ADAMS APPOINTS CAMILLE JOSEPH VARLACK AS DEPUTY MAYOR FOR ADMINISTRATION, TIFFANY RASPBERRY AS DEPUTY MAYOR FOR INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

New York City Mayor Eric Adams today announced that Chief of Staff Camille Joseph Varlack has been elevated to the role of deputy mayor for administration, and that Director of Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) Tiffany Raspberry will serve as deputy mayor for intergovernmental affairs. Deputy Mayor Varlack will also continue to serve in her role as chief of staff, while adding oversight of several key city units, including the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services and co-chairing the New York City Performance Cabinet. Deputy Mayor Raspberry will oversee City Hall intergovernmental affairs, coordinate and direct intergovernmental affairs teams across all city agencies, and work closely with partners in the business community as the administration continues to advocate for its priorities at the city, state, and federal level.

“As I have said time and time again, our administration has a deep bench of talent, and these two leaders represent some of our best,” said Mayor Adams. “From spearheading our administration’s response to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis to securing the tools we need to build affordable housing and keep our communities safe from illegal cannabis, Deputy Mayors Varlack and Raspberry have delivered real results for New Yorkers over the course of our administration and will be invaluable to our efforts in building a safer, more affordable city.”

“I am grateful to the mayor for his continued trust in my leadership as I take on this expanded portfolio,” said Deputy Mayor for Administration and Chief of Staff Camille Joseph Varlack. “Over the past two years, I have been honored to work alongside a team focused on advancing our bold vision of a safer, more affordable city — building more housing, delivering an unprecedented humanitarian response, advancing equity in our education system, and driving initiatives that improve the lives of all New Yorkers. As we enter our fourth year, I remain steadfast in my commitment to bold, innovative, and results-driven governance that prioritizes the needs of New Yorkers. Together, we will continue to shape a city that works for everyone.”

“I am deeply grateful to Mayor Adams for the opportunity to serve as deputy mayor and continue our administration’s efforts to build bridges across all levels of government,” said Deputy Mayor for Intergovernmental Affairs Tiffany Raspberry. “Over the past three years, we have worked tirelessly with our partners at the city, state, and federal levels to pass all our city’s priorities in order to deliver new tools and resources that move the needle for all New Yorkers. As Mayor Adams likes to say, this IGA team is like the 1986 Mets All-Star team, and I know this legislative session will be no different. We will continue to make this a safer and more affordable city for all New Yorkers in the years to come.”
