Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson - Community Resources & Updates

Dear Neighbor,

Thank you for joining us for another week in review.

Last week, we joined Governor Kathy Hochul, our government colleagues, and community partners in Morris Park for an exciting announcement of $20 million in funding for the Greater Morris Park area. This investment will help transform our borough by supporting public park improvements, beautification projects, transit enhancements, and economic growth. We are proud to have advocated for this funding, and we remain committed to pushing for continued support for our commercial corridors and small businesses so they can thrive.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce the return of Bronx Week, a celebration of the people and places that make our borough a beautiful place to live, work, and raise a family. From May 3rd to May 18th, we will once again partner with the Bronx Economic Development Corporation and the Bronx Tourism Council to host a series of exciting events. This year, we are seeking nominations for the People's Choice Award, which will honor Bronx professionals in the Media and Arts who have made a profound impact on our community. We encourage you to submit nominations that highlight these remarkable individuals. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 4th—click the link for more information.

Lastly, we mourn the loss of Civil Rights Icon and Pioneer Dr. Hazel Dukes. As the longtime President of the NAACP New York State Conference, Dr. Dukes dedicated her life to the fight for justice, equality, and community empowerment. It was a privilege to know her, and her unwavering commitment to civil rights and social justice continues to inspire me and countless others. Her legacy of leadership, activism, and compassion will guide us for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace. Our deepest prayers of strength and healing go out to her family, loved ones, and all whose lives she touched.

As always, if you need support from our office, you can call 718-590-3500 or email us at webmail@bronxbp.nyc.gov.

In partnership,

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson
