Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato
Dear Neighbors,
This week, we continued our commitment to supporting our community members in a Financial Literacy Series, rallying at Preston High School, and supporting our Veterans! It is always a joy to engage with our amazing community and ensure we keep providing valuable events that meet the needs of our constituents.
In this newsletter, you will find details about the district events that took place this week, along with information on various upcoming events we have planned.
It is an honor to represent you in the New York City Council and continue fighting to keep our community safe, healthy, and prosperous!
Sincerely,
Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato

Financial Literacy Series Partnership!
On Tuesday February 25th, we proudly launched our Financial Literacy Series, and it was a fantastic night of learning, connection, and empowerment. Attendees gained essential knowledge on financial planning, business banking, and wealth-building strategies, all aimed at helping Bronx professionals and entrepreneurs succeed.
A special thank you to City National Bank and The Bronx Chamber of Commerce for partnering with us to bring these valuable resources to our community. Your support is truly making a lasting impact!
Preston High School Statement and Rally
Last Thursday morning, I stood with the Preston High School community as they rallied against the abrupt announcement of its closing. The outpouring of support from students, families, and faculty was powerful and heart-wrenching.
These girls and families do not deserve this. They deserve continuity, respect, and an open school—one that provides a safe, nurturing environment for growth and education. It’s crucial that we fight for their right to a stable future and ensure their voices are heard in this decision. We will continue to stand with them and push for a fair resolution!
Veterans Services in Office!
Last Friday, we had the privilege of hosting NYC Veterans and the VFW at our office to provide support and resources to our veterans.
The turnout was wonderful, and it was inspiring to see everyone come together. We’re committed to expanding the services we offer and hope to reach even more veterans in the future!
It’s an honor to continue supporting those who have served our country.
Meeting with NYPD
On Monday, we met with Assistant Commissioner Alden Foster from NYPD Community Affairs to discuss our community programming, focusing on youth, schools, and district-based initiatives. We exchanged ideas on how to strengthen our efforts and support the
community’s needs.
I’m looking forward to continue our collaboration and will always stand behind our department’s work to make a positive impact!
Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance!
The Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance visited us to engage in a thoughtful discussion about our shared priorities, potential collaborations, and plans for community engagement in 2025. It was an excellent opportunity to align on our goals and explore ways to further strengthen our district.
We are incredibly proud to have such dedicated and passionate community leaders and partners in District 13. Their commitment to making our neighborhood a better place is truly inspiring, and we look forward to working together to create lasting, positive change!
