Woodlawn Wednesdays

March 5, 12, 19, 26 - Meet at 9am
Help restore the beautiful woodlands on the east side of Van Cortlandt Park! Join us for Woodlawn Wednesdays, where volunteers like you play a vital role in preserving this important urban ecosystem.

Trail Work Thursdays

March 6, 13, 20, 27 - Meet at 9am

Blaze trails with us! Whether you’re an experienced trailblazer or new to trail maintenance, your help will make a significant impact to ensure trail safety for cross country runners and hikers.

Forest Fridays

March 7, 14, 21, 27 - Meet at 9am

Help restore Van Cortlandt Park’s vital northwest forest by removing invasive plants like multiflora rose, bittersweet, and porcelain berry. Your efforts will create space for native plants to thrive and support long-term forest health.

Goodbye to Winter: Sunset Hike
Wednesday, March 19 - Meet at 6pm
Join us for a magical equinox sunset hike in Van Cortlandt Park. This easy 1.5-mile hike to Vault Hill and back offers an unforgettable farewell to winter, enriched with plant identification and scenic views. Perfect for those looking to welcome spring with open arms.

Save the Date: Woodlawn Family Fun Day!

Saturday, April 12 - 1pm to 4pm

An afternoon of fun for the whole family including music & dance, facepainting, crafts, games and more!  This year, join us for a Special Ceremony to induct Van Cortlandt Park’s woodlands into the Old-Growth Forest Network. Volunteers needed on April 5 from 10am to noon to help us get the site ready -volunteers can sign up here!

This year, VCPA will be honoring Herb Barrett, Korean War Veteran and Memorial Grove Advocate and James Hendon, NYC Commissioner of NYC Department of Veterans’ Services at our annual benefit.
